Hi! I'm Nydia. I'm 44 (idk how either), and I live in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, which is kind of suburbs, kind of city.
My days start with getting my two kids ready and out the door for school. Then I come home and work on whatever's on the agenda. Sometimes that's my little sticker and paper goods business, sometimes it's running the house, and on the good days it's what I call self management (aka reading, junk journaling, some other creative project, and doom scrolling, let's be honest).
My household is hubby and me, our two kids, and King Jax (name upgraded because hubby and I are listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, IKYK). He's a 12 or 13 year old rescued ragamuffin cat. His name is Jax, his nickname is Jaximiliano, and he is the sweetest, most polite cat ever.
I love sparkling water. Current obsession: La Croix Pure. There are two cans sitting on my desk that I have to throw away, plus the remnants of my last swap.
I'm also deep into the Sookie Stackhouse books. True Blood anyone? Watching Ted Lasso and Dark Matter.
Some honest things about me. I have zero rhythm and can't dance. Melodies don't really move me the way they seem to move everyone else, but lyrics do. Words get me every time. And I know I'm supposed to be in awe of landscapes and nature, living here, but mostly I'm looking at the signs and the packaging hehe.
Happiest small thing: when food tastes exactly right.
I'm new to Swap-bot but I've been trading and swapping online for years, and I take it seriously. If something I send doesn't arrive, message me and I'll make it right. Mail to and from Puerto Rico can take a little longer, but it gets there.
What I love getting
Bright colors and weird color combos. Leopard print, always (I loveeee leopard print). Beige can visit, but only if it's holding hands with red or pink.
Retro and vintage anything, mid-century ads, 80s/90s/Y2K, kawaii, spooky and creepy, vintage goth, camp, tarot-ish and celestial stuff, bold typography, botanical and anatomical illustrations, old photos, maps, menus, motel stationery, food packaging, postal stuff, and tiny random things with no obvious purpose. Halloween anything.
For my journals: old book pages, foreign-language text, ledger paper, tissue paper, clippings, tickets, tags, receipts, postcards, journaling cards, die cuts, stamped images, scraps, and found paper. Stuff from your own stash is GREAT. Something you're bored of might be completely new to me. Handmade is welcome too (tags, pockets, clusters, mini collages, painted paper, whatever experiment didn't quite work out).
And stickers. I make them for a living and apparently that hasn't cured me.
Fandoms: Doctor Who, The Golden Girls, Audrey Hepburn, Beetlejuice, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Styles, Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, The Fratellis, The Libertines, Weezer, sci-fi, fantasy, and 90s nostalgia.
Queer anything (Pride, drag, trans-positive art, sapphic/gay/bi, camp), feminist art, protest art, political satire, and artistic nudity/NSFW art are all welcome. Art specifically.
A note on style
Big respect to the Victorian lace and roses and butterflies crowd. You make it look effortless. I've tried. It ends up looking like a tea party that got crashed by a raccoon hehe.
Please don't send
What you'll get from me
I always read my partner's profile first and try to send things that fit what you love, not just what I love. My stash leans colorful, retro, spooky, queer-friendly, and a little chaotic, but there's usually something in there for everyone. Expect vintage bits, found paper, packaging, stickers, paper goods, and some of my own art. So fill out your profile! The more you tell me, the better your mail gets hehe.
I joined Swap-bot because I want my mailbox to become increasingly unhinged. 💌
